We mentioned earlier this a.m. that you should avoid Dallas Cowboys running backs for the team's Sunday Night Football matchup against the New York Giants.
That's pretty much where it ends.
Not only are the Cowboys facing a Giants defense that yielded the ninth-most fantasy points last season, they are doing so with both Jason Pierre-Paul and Jon Beason out of action for the season opener.
Pierre-Paul, who injured his hand in a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July, was sent back to Florida last week and is not currently in the Giants' plans. Here's a guy that's helped the team overcome a less-than-stellar secondary by accumulating 42.5 sacks in his first five NFL seasons. Without him to put pressure on Romo in front of an elite Cowboys' offensive line, the Pro Bowl quarterback is going to have all day in the pocket. And with a still talent-stricken secondary, the Giants won't have the pass coverage to counteract that.
Beason may fly under the radar, but the Giants' defense fell off the map when Beason went down for 12 games last season. The veteran linebacker will miss Sunday's game with an ankle sprain, which leaves the Giants thin at an already talent-stricken linebacker group. This could be a fantasy boon for Jason Witten, who is the fifth most-expensive tight end this week at $5800.
More than that, both Tony Romo and Dez Bryant become elite plays. At $8700, Romo is the seventh most-expensive FanDuel quarterback. Meanwhile, Bryant comes in as the fourth most-expensive receiver at $8700. Utilizing the stack option of Romo and Bryant at 29 percent of your cap isn't necessarily a bad idea. In fact, it could give you two elite scoring positions. At $5300, Terrance Williams also becomes a solid under-the-radar play here.
