NFC East Preview: Week 4 Preseason

~~This is the last chance for hopefuls to make teams across the NFC East, and also the final time fans must endure watching fourth stringers battle it out for the end of regulation. The fourth preseason week is here, what is in store in the NFC East?

The NFC East champions will square off in exhibition against the Jets Thursday in Philadelphia, while looking to get more production out of first-round selection Marcus Smith. Most other issues are solidified outside of the battle for third-string running back, so that will be the other situation for Eagles’ fans to monitor. This could also be quarterback Matt Barkley’s last shot to impress the coaching staff, and Ifeanyi Momah’s chance to make or break a professional roster.

The New York Giants will host the New England Patriots on Thursday night, and must find a rhythm in their offense. Larry Donnell has taken over the tight end spot, but the search continues for a viable depth chart at receiver. Eli Manning has proved that he needs weapons to succeed, we will see if any such player exists on the Giants’ roster.

Though Tony Romo will not play, the Dallas Cowboys will host the Denver Broncos with confidence, on one side of the ball at least. With a defense that would make a first-aid unit during the civil war look healthy, Dallas must find some sort of talent on the defensive side to bring a spark back into a downtrodden unit.

Finally, the Washington Redskins will travel to Tampa Bay in the hopes of finding its long-lost defensive unit. One of the league’s worst units from a season ago will try to find its form against Lovie Smith’s ground and pound offense. Furthermore, a strong showing from Kirk Cousins could turn the media-storm surrounding Robert Griffin III’s poor play thus far into a hurricane.
