After a fun Week 1 to start off the 2014 NFL season, it's not fun and games now. In Week 2, teams that lost their opening matchup will almost be in a must-win game. While it may sound drastic, the chances of making the playoffs when starting off the season 0-2 are astronomically low. Now in Week 2, one of the best games of the week will be between the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks and the San Diego Chargers.
This game is not at CenturyLink Field, so the Chargers most certainly have a chance in this one. After losing a tough one to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, the Chargers will look to steal a win against perhaps the best team in the NFL. Seattle debuted the 2014 season with a game against the Green Bay Packers, and the Seahawks passed their first test of the season with flying colors.
Going forward, this game will be a matchup between the Chargers' high-powered offenses versus the vaunted Seattle secondary. Quarterback Philip Rivers did not play well in Week 1, but he has the ability to get hot and score a ton of points. On the opposite side of the ball, the Seahawks will look to stiffle Rivers and the passing attack. After that, they will look to give the ball to workhorse back Marshawn Lynch.
This one could have the makings of a good game, but I'm going with the Seahawks in this one. After watching them manhandle the Packers in Week 1 and seeing the talent on this football team, it's extremely hard to bet against this Seahawks team. Repeating is extremely difficult, but the Seahawks could be the first team to do it in a long time.
Prediction: Seahawks 27 - Chargers 13
