The AFC West is becoming quite the division with the 7-0 Kansas City Chiefs and 6-1 Denver Broncos. For a division that wasn’t expected to have much talent, these two teams are stealing the show and creating quite the noise around the NFL. This week looks to be an easy week for the AFC West teams, all they’ll have to do is execute and they should all get W’s.
The only undefeated team in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs, are now 7-0 after defeating the Houston Texans in a very close 17-16 game. The Chiefs just keep finding ways to win which has led to their surprising undefeated record, and first place position in the West. This week, the Chiefs will host the 3-4 Cleveland Browns. So far, KC has had a favorable schedule and this week is no different. With the Arrowhead crowd behind them, Andy Reid and the Chiefs should be 8-0 after Week 8.
The 2-4 Oakland Raiders will host the 2-4 Pittsburgh Steelers. The silver and black are fresh off a bye week, but that’s not necessarily a good thing for the Raiders as they haven’t won a game after the bye since 2002. This may be the year to end that tough stretch. The Steelers have struggled in Oakland, and Terrelle Pryor is the key to an Oakland victory. The Raiders offensive line has been plagued with injuries, and the team overall really needed a week of rest. Before the bye, Oakland played the Chiefs in KC and performed decently for the most part, especially the defense. It’s been quite awhile since Raider Nation witnessed a Raiders win after the bye week, but this season, they have the perfect opportunity to end the losing streak; they play at home in front of their fans against a team that hasn’t played well against the Raiders. The Raiders are more than capable of winning this game and improving to 3-4 heading into Week 9.
The Denver Broncos are perfect no more. Peyton Manning and the Broncos lost to the Indianapolis Colts last week in Manning’s Indy homecoming. They were outplayed by the young Andrew Luck and just weren’t able to get the W. This week, the Broncos will host the 2-4 Washington Redskins. Like the Chiefs, the Broncos have had a favorable schedule thus far and are just a very good team. They should have no problem against this Redskins team this week. The team will rebound from the loss as they return home to play in front of the Denver fans and should be 7-1 heading into Week 9.
The San Diego Chargers have the bye this week. They won their matchup in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and are now 4-3.
