San Francisco 49ers at New York Jets

This will most definitely not be a trap game for San Francisco after they fell flat on their face against the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. I would look for the 49ers to attempt to take advantage of the absence of Darrelle Revis early and often. Michael Crabtree up against Antonio Cromartie seems like a bit of a mismatch the way each have been play thus far this season.

With that in mind, San Francisco will focus more on the run game than they did last week. Expect both Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter to see a nice amount of reps as the game progresses, with some play-action to Vernon Davis up the seam.

New York’s success on offense will all be predicated on Mark Sanchez and the passing game as they will not be able to rely on a consistent run game against a stout 49ers’ front seven. They might have some issues considering breakout rookie performer Stephen Hill is unlikely to play. I see a major mismatch here if San Francisco actually shows up to play a football game, unlike last week.

Fantasy Outlook

Neither quarterback will be counted on to be a QB1 option here. Instead, it makes sense to go with Frank Gore and Vernon Davis. As I mentioned before, Gore should see himself run the ball 20-plus times. Davis, on the other hand, has been a consistent touchdown threat over the course of the last six games, postseason included.

If you have to start any Jets’ offensive player, something I would warn against, it would have to be Santonio Holmes. The enigmatic receiver has performed extremely well throughout the first three games.

Seattle Seahawks at St. Louis Rams

On paper this seems like a mismatch, but St. Louis is a completely different team than last season..Especially on the defensive side of the ball. Opposing offenses have seen their yardage output drop in each of the last three games, a prime example that the Rams defense is gelling. Considering how bad Seattle has been on the offensive side of the ball in 2012, you can expect this game to be relatively close.

Seattle hasn’t tallied 140 passing yards in each of their first three games and continue to struggle staying on the field on third down. This part of the game definitely benefits the Rams.

I just don’t see how St. Louis is going to be able to put up the necessary points and sustain drives against an elite Hawks’ defense. Expect a low scoring game.

Fantasy Outlook

Ouch! If you have to rely on anybody in this game you are already in more trouble than I can even get into here. I guess the one fantasy option you could go with would be Marshawn Lynch, who has started the 2012 season just as good as he ended 2011. As a RB1 option? I highly doubt that. I just don’t see Lynch going for triple-digit yards and a score.

Outside of “Skittles,” there isn’t much here. Neither quarterback will put up solid fantasy numbers and both teams feature inconsistent receivers on the outside. Lance Kendricks and Zach Miller might be able to produce a tad at the tight end position.

Miami Dolphins at Arizona Cardinals

Will Miami score a single point in this game? The way Arizona shutdown both the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles in the last two games, it seems unlikely. While Reggie Bush is likely to play, he must have an absolutely huge game if Miami is to have a chance in this one.

In short, put the onus on Ryan Tannehill and this game could get out of hand relatively quickly.

That being said, Arizona isn’t lighting the world on fire offensively and are going up against a decent Miami defense. If this game remains close through the first half, Miami could pull off a big upset. I think Arizona will be able to do just enough to grab their fourth consecutive win.

Fantasy Outlook

I would avoid Reggie Bush here. He isn’t going to be 100 percent and will be going up against a top three defense against Arizona. If you have to, play Bush as a RB2 or flex option.

Meanwhile, Larry Fitzgerald is set for a breakout game after a pedestrian start to the 2012 season. He will most likely be lined up against Sean Smith, which is somewhat if a huge mismatch on the outside. In regards to Fitzgerald’s fantasy production, it is all about Kevin Kolb becoming more consistent in the passing game.
