Following a disastrous performance from Austin Davis in a 37-3 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Mike Pettine has finally decided to let Johnny Manziel out of the dog house.
The Cleveland Browns will start Manziel for the final four games of the season, starting next week against the San Francisco 49ers.
Manziel was named the team's starter prior to its Week 10 outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He responded by putting up 389 yards. That came immediately prior to Manziel allegedly partying away the team's bye week with some adult beverages.
Remember, Manziel spent an extensive amount of time in rehab earlier this year — an indication that he was working through some substance abuse issues. By deciding to revert back to old form, Manziel lost the trust of the coaching staff and was severely punished.
All that said, the Browns need to know what they have in the former first-round pick over the course of the final quarter of the season. Likely picking somewhere in the top five in next year's draft, the team is going to have an opportunity to draft a quarterback. Unless Manziel proves his worth over the next four games, that's likely going to be the end result here.
