The Tim Tebow era in Philadelphia will live another day.
Battling for a roster spot with Matt Barkley, Tebow has apparently earned himself the team's No. 3 quarterback job. According to Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, Barkley was traded to the Arizona Cardinals for a conditional late-round pick:
This shouldn't come as much of a surprise. Tebow has been the better quarterback this summer and brings much more versatility to the position than Barkley, especially with Eagles head coach Chip Kelly likely to go for the two-point conversion more often this year.
With Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez entrenched in ahead of Tebow, it's likely the former Heisman winner will be riding the pine in Philadelphia. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some "Tebow packages" in an always innovative Chip Kelly offense.
As it relates to Barkley, the Eagles have been trying to move him for some time now. Headed to Arizona, he will likely act as the third quarterback behind Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton, meaning that Logan Thomas could find himself out of a job.
