New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady may have just lost one of his favorite targets for the remainder of the season.
Wide receiver Julian Edelman suffered a broken bone in his foot late in the first quarter of New England's win over the New York Giants on Sunday:
The injury, a Jones fracture, is said to be similar to what Dez Bryant suffered back in Week 1. Bryant didn't return to action until Week 8. If Edelman follows the same recovery time frame, it will have him back by Week 16. However, each injury heals in its own way and each player is different.
Per Schefter, the hope here is that Edelman will return during the regular season. Even then, it's unknown whether he will make much of an impact.
With Edelman sidelined for the vast majority of Sunday's game, Danny Amendola picked up the slack, going for 10 receptions in the late-game Patriots win. He's someone to consider on the waiver wire.
