Report: Washington RB Matt Jones Not Expected to Play in Week 16

Washington's backfield hasn't been easy for fantasy owners to try and read. Each week it seemed a different running back would get a majority of the work, but it wasn't always the one you expected. The running back situation should gain some clarity this week with the report that Matt Jones is not expected to play Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jones received just 11 touches last week and a few days later was listed on Washington's injury report with a hip injury. Jones was only able to practice in a limited capacity later in the week and it now appears as if Washington will hold him out, hoping to keep him fresh for a potential playoff run.

With Jones expected to be inactive, Alfred Morris should get the start and could receive 18-plus carries. Last week against the Buffalo Bills, Morris rushed for 84 yards on just 14 carries, an excellent 6.0 yards per carry. Now he will face an Eagles' defense that has allowed 504 rushing yards over the past four weeks to opponent's running backs. With Washington a win away from clinching the NFC East, they will be going all out for this win. Morris is a great RB2 given the matchup and heavy workload in Week 16.
