Anyone watching the Washington Redskins game against the Detroit Lions Thursday night saw this coming. Well, except for Redskins head coach Jay Gruden.
Embattled starting quarterback Robert Griffin III, taking hits early and often, exited the game in the second quarter after being hit on a play in which he fumbled the football. He's being evaluated for a stinger and a potential concussion.
Before we show you the play that led to the injury, it's important to provide context by showing a couple of the hits that RGIII took prior to finding himself on the turf for well over three minutes.
And now the injury:
This just isn't acceptable. The Redskins coaching staff had to see this coming. To put RGIII in a situation to be injured during a meaningless preseason football game is beyond comprehension. Doing so with his injury history makes even less sense.
The good news here is that it looks like RGIII escaped serious injury after being sacked three times and hit four times in eight dropbacks.
