Sam Bradford on His Health: "I Think I Feel Better Than What I Was Expecting"

There are few people in the know out there who don't believe Sam Bradford can succeed in Chip Kelly's offense if he's 100 percent. In fact, it must be noted that he had a ton of success running that offense with fellow Philadelphia Eagles teammate DeMarco Murray when the two suited up for Oklahoma.

It's now all about Bradford getting back to 100 percent and showing he can remain healthy after missing the past year and a half with multiple torn ACL's.

Now seemingly prepared to go for the preseason, Bradford appears to be happy about where he's at:

“I think I feel better than what I was expecting,” the new Eagles quarterback said on Thursday, via CSN Philly. “I thought my knee would hold up, but I wasn't sure. I hadn't put it through four days of practice, coming into camp, but the way my knee feels right now, it feels great. So I’m really happy with where I’m at right now.”

Even after retaining Mark Sanchez on a multi-yer deal and signing Tim Tebow during the offseason, Bradford is Philadelphia's clear No. 1 quarterback. After all, the team did give up Nick Foles and a future second-round pick to acquire him from the St. Louis Rams.

Considering Bradford has been a full participant in practice during the first four days of Eagles' training camp, it's now up to him to prove he can remain healthy over the long haul.

In Bradford's last extensive NFL action back in 2013, prior to injuring his ACL for the first time, the former No. 1 overall pick put up 14 touchdowns compared to four interceptions. In fact, he's tallied 35 touchdowns compared to only 17 interceptions over his past 23 starts.

Now on an Eagles' offense that's much more talented than the one he had to line up with in St. Louis, Bradford could very well be primed for a breakout year. It's going to be extremely interesting to see how he performs in the preseason, especially considering Chip Kelly isn't going to baby him simply because of his injury history.
