Be prepared, the Brandon Weeden era may have just started in Houston. The Texans confirmed on Sunday evening what most people feared. Starting quarterback T.J. Yates — filling in for an injured Brian Hoyer — suffered a torn ACL in the team's win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
This doesn't necessarily have much of a fantasy football impact, but it will definitely play a role in the AFC South race moving forward this season.
By virtue of their ugly 16-10 win over Indianapolis, the Texans are now one game up in the division with two games left. This is an indication that the team may very well find a way to win that horrendous division.
For his part, Weeden came in on Sunday and found a way to lead the Texans to a win. He completed 11-of-18 passes for 105 yards with a touchdown and zero interceptions.
Though, it was Houston's running game that did the heavy lifting in this one. Including a 107-yard performance from Alfred Blue, the Texans went for 155 yards on 37 attempts.
Hoyer suffered his second concussion of the season back in Week 14. At that time, reports suggested that he's expected to be out a "while." Knowing full well just how seriously the NFL takes head injuries, it wouldn't be surprising to see Hoyer shut down for the remainder of the year.
If so, we could see Weeden start a home game when the playoffs come calling in January. That's a dramatic turnabout after he was let loose by Dallas following a disastrous stint with the Cowboys earlier this year.
