5. Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
Johnson's ridiculous 12-reception performance against the San Diego Chargers last Monday night was nothing short of extraordinary. The Pro Bowler once again proved that father time has not caught up with him. He now goes up against a Tennessee Titans pass defense that yielded an average of 154 yards and nearly two touchdowns to starting receivers last season. With Arian Foster likely getting stifled against a decent Titans' front seven, Matt Schaub will have to go to the air more often. This means a ton of targets for Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins today.
Projected Statistics: Eight receptions, 125 yards and one touchdown
4. Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
If Jackson was able to rip into the core of the New York Jets secondary last week to the tune of seven receptions for 154 yards, imagine what he's going to do against a weak New Orleans Saints pass defense. While New Orleans did upset the Atlanta Falcons last week, it has the worst overall secondary in the NFC. Couple that with what promises to be a shoot out and you have the makings for another huge performance for Jackson. New Orleans ranked dead last against fantasy receivers last season. Expect the same type of disastrous performance today.
Projected Statistics: 10 receptions, 165 yards and one touchdown
3. Randall Cobb, Green Bay Packers
Cobb quietly had himself a nice game against one of the better defenses in the NFL in the form of the San Francisco 49ers last week. He tallied seven catches for 108 yards and a score. Cobb and the Packers now go up against a Washington Redskins defense that lacks the necessary talent to compete against what is an elite passing game. Whether it is Josh Wilson or DeAngelo Hall covering Cobb, it really doesn't matter. The young wide receiver is going to put up a prime-time show at Lambeau today. This is only magnified by the fact that Washington yielded the second-most fantasy points to receivers last season.
Projected Statistics: Nine receptions, 145 yards and two touchdowns
2. DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles
Who didn't see Jackson's stud performance coming last week? I had him in my top-five fantasy receivers for Week 1 and he didn't disappoint. The enigmatic but talented receiver nabbed seven catches for 104 yards and a score against a much better pass defense than he is going to face this week. While Washington (see above) struggles against the pass, the San Diego Chargers are downright horrible. They allowed DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson to combine for a whopping 17 receptions and 212 yards. That's just not going to get it done.
Projected Statistics: Eight receptions, 160 yards and two touchdowns
1. Demaryius Thomas, Denver Broncos
Why the hell not? Thomas seemed to be an afterthought early in Denver's lopsided victory over the Baltimore Ravens last week, but came on string towards the end. A 78-yard touchdown strike from Peyton Manning led to what would end up becoming a top-three fantasy performance from Thomas, who finished with 161 receiving yards and two scores. Denver now goes up against a disastrous New York Giants secondary that fails to have one single cover guy who can go up against this beast of a receiver. Whether it is Corey Webster, Aaron Ross or Prince Amukamara going up against Thomas, does it really matter? Expect another huge performance today.
Projected Statistics: Eight receptions, 165 yards and two touchdowns
