Top Fantasy Football Performances From Sunday's Week 4 Action

1. Tony Gonzalez, Tight End, Atlanta Falcons

Statistics: 12 receptions, 149 yards and two touchdowns (26.90 fantasy points)

What a manly performance from this future Hall of Fame tight end when Atlanta needed it the most. While Gonzalez's huge night didn't end in a win, he proved that he hasn't lost a step after struggling (at least from a fantasy perspective) in the Falcons first three games. Gonzalez recorded 12 receptions on 14 targets and became Matt Ryan's primary target with both Roddy White and Julio Jones slowed down by injury. This perfomance has Gonzalez as the the No. 5 overall fantasy tight end through four weeks.

2. Peyton Manning, Quarterback, Denver Broncos

Statistics: 28/34, 327 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions (29.08 fantasy points)

Maybe I just wanted to put someone else at No. 1 for a change, but an argument could easily be made that Manning was the top fantasy player on Sunday. He continued a record-breaking start by compiling four more touchdowns to bring his season total to 16 without a single interception. Manning actually had just two more incompleted passes than touchdowns. Overall this season, the future Hall of Fame quarterback has 23 more incompleted passes than touchdowns through four games. Think about that for a second. He's the No. 1 overall fantasy quarterback through four weeks and has a lead of 30 points over the second-best option at that position, Michael Vick

3. Reggie Bush, Running Back, Detroit Lions

Statistics: 18 attempts, 139 yards, 4 receptions, 34 yards and one touchdown (23.30 fantasy points)

I am going with Bush over Adrian Peterson here because the former has become the best multi-layered running back threat in the fantasy footbal world. Not only did Bush average 7.7 yards per rush, he put up another 34 yards on four receptions and scored a touchdown late in the second quarter to give the Lions a 20-point lead. Despite missing a week-plus due to injury, Bush is still the No. 6 overall fantasy running back through four weeks. He's also averaging nearly a yard more per rush than his career stats have shown prior to the 2013 season.

4. Philip Rivers, Quarterback, San Diego Chargers

Statistics: 35/42, 401 yards, three touchdowns and one interception (26.04 fantasy points)

Please tell me you saw this coming. What Rivers has done over the first four weeks of the season is simply stunning. He's completed nearly 74 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions. That has him as the No. 3 fantasy quarterbacks through four weeks. Rivers tallied over 400 passing yards and had just four more incompletions than touchdowns in what was a must win for the Chargers at home against the Dallas Cowboys. It seems as if Dan Fouts crept into Rivers' house and took over his body during the offseason. This is insane.

5. Alex Smith, Quarterback, Kansas City Chiefs

Statistics: 24/41, 288 passing yards, seven attempts, 37 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions (23.22 fantasy points)

Speaking of insane, Smith will likely finish Week 4 as the No. 6 overall fantasy quarterback, depending on what Drew Brees does tonight against the Miami Dolphins. Smith tied a career high with three total touchdowns and is now on pace for over 4,400 total yards. Not only does he have the Chiefs at 4-0, Smith is proving to be a legit QB1 option at this point in the season. He also on pace for over 600 rushing yards, a number that would end up higher than his replacement with the San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick

6. Adrian Peterson, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings

Statistics: 23 attempts, 140 yards and two touchdowns (23.30 fantasy points)

AP could easily be in the top three here, but his lack of receptions (zero) cost him a bit. Still, the best running back in the NFL did it against in London against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. He put up over six yards per rush on 23 attempts, which is simply insane considering that the Steelers still have a good front seven on defense. Equally as impressive, Peterson is on pace for over 1,800 total yards and 20 touchdowns. Nope, he hasn't lost a step.
