It was reported on Tuesday that New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was being questioned in connection with a homocide that took place within a mile of his home in North Attleborough, MA.
At that point, Hernandez wasn't a suspect or even a person of interest in the homicide investigation.
Things have since taken a turn for the talented young tight end.
First, TMZ reported that Hernandez was accused of shooting a man after the two left a strip club in Florida this past February. According to reports, the two had a fight in a car outside the club and Hernandez's gun discharged. Indications are that Alexander Bradley, the accuser, lost his right eye in the "event" and had other major facial injuries that required surgery.
A civil suit was initially filed by Bradley but dropped shortly thereafter. Conflicting reports indicate that the case was either dropped because the two reached a settlement. Other reports indicate that Bradley never named Hernandez as a the suspect in the shooting. Yet another report indicates that there were issues with Bradley's court filings and that he re-filed papers and served Hernanedez at his home on Tuesday.
Either way, that's just another turn in the recent drama that has been Hernandez's life over the past few days.
Back to the homicide investigation.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, who apparently was seen with Hernandez the day that he was murdered. Even more incriminating, police may have linked Hernandez as the driver of the vehicle that was at the crime scene.
According to various news outlets in Boston, Hernandez was one of four men that were seen leaving a bar (the victim included) with only three returning back to Hernandez's home. Odin was found hours later within a mile of the residence.
Sources do indicate that police believe Hernandez is directly tied to the homicide. This is one of the reasons why we decided to hold back on rumors that were circulating on Tuesday. At that time, he wasn't even a person of interest in the case. Law enforcement sources say that Hernandez "has NOT been ruled out as a suspect...."
Wednesday represented the second consecutive day that police were at Hernandez's home executing a search warrant. Sources also indicated to FOX 25 that this homicide may be related to drugs, most likely marijuana.
Hernandez has yet to be charged, but indications are that the investigation will further incriminate him.
Again, we will have more news as it breaks.
