Alright, week one is in the books and a few surprises went down. Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins just had their way with the Saints. If you had the Skins in this matchup then my hats off, that is a gutsy pick. Didn’t see Arizona beating the Seahawks, really thought the seagulls were going to be better than that.
Last week's record was 11-5, with both the lock pick of the week and upset pick of the week coming through for me. Who will be the upset this week and who is a guaranteed win?
How will week two shape up? Will the Jets offensive juggernaut continue in Pittsburgh? Do the Packers rebound or drop to 0-2? Is there anyone picking against RGIII this week?
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
Jay Cutler looked shaky early on against the Colts, rebounding to throw two touchdowns to go along with one interception. The Packers defence is better than that of the Colts and I expect more Bear’s turnovers this week. I expect the Packer running game to get going this week and take some pressure of Rodgers. I can’t see the Packers dropping to 0-2, especially at home. PICK: PACKERS
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants
Defence was the name of the game for the ‘Bucs last week as they held the entire Panthers team to only 10 rushing yards. Tampa is going to need a similar defensive stand to beat the Giants. The G-men have to be a little miffed from last week’s loss at home to the Cowboys. The extra rest will serve the Giants well as they come in prepared for this matchup. PICK: GIANTS
Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins
Rookie QB Ryan Tannehill had a rough day against a very good defence in week one. The Dolphins are just a bad team and they aren’t going to win many games this season. Oakland didn’t play particularly well in their Monday night matchup. Carson Palmer looked impressive throwing the ball, unfortunately that just exposed the Raiders lack of receivers. Of course what would a Raiders game be without undisciplined defensive penalties? Still the fins are a bad, bad team. PICK: RAIDERS
Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Jags put up a good fight against an equally bad Vikings squad in week 1. Houston beat up the Dolphins in their match-up. The bad beats trend continues as Houston steamrolls the Jaguars. PICK: TEXANS
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals
The Browns lost by only one point versus the Eagles in week one, despite Weedens best efforts to lose by more. Weeden threw for 12 completions and four interceptions. Bengals rebound from week one loss and take this one. PICK: BENGALS
Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
Chiefs looked pretty good in week one, unfortunately the Falcons were great. K.C looks to rebound against the ailing Bills squad. The Chiefs defence will get a boost as Pro Bowl linebacker Tamba Hali returns after his one-game suspension. Bills had a dreadful week one, Mario Williams was a non-factor, Fred Jackson is out for a month and David Nelson is lost for the year. Bright spot for the Bills was the play of C.J Spiller, but his ground game is not enough. PICK: CHIEFS
Baltimore Ravens at Philadelphia Eagles
Baltimore was very impressive in their win, Flacco had a great game and the offence looked to be in-sync. The Ravens defence was it’s usual self; aggressive and hard tackling. If Vick plays as poorly as he did against the Browns this game will be over by halftime. Even Vick’s best efforts aren’t going to be enough on this day. PICK: RAVENS
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
The Panthers were awful in week one when it came to running the ball; so were the Saints. Whichever team can establish some semblance of a run game will win this matchup. I put this game on Drew Brees, this is an almost make-or-break game for the Saints. PICK: SAINTS
Arizona Cardinals at New England Patriots
The Patriots looked like a well-oiled machine in week one. Brady and Co. had their way offensively against the Titans. Stevan Ridley had a breakout game and about the only thing that needed work was Gronkowski’s botched TD celebration. Arizona surprised me against Seattle, but to be honest, they didn’t show me anything that would tell me that they are going to win this game. PICK: PATRIOTS
Minnesota Vikings at Indianapolis Colts
If it weren’t for the return of Adrian Peterson from that horrific knee injury, the Vikings would have lost their season opener. Andrew Luck played well in his debut against a tough Bears defence. I think the Colts get their first win of the season here. PICK: COLTS
Washington Redskins at St Louis Rams
RGIII was impressive in his debut as the Skins offence looked impressive as a whole. The Rams played a solid game in Detroit almost sneaking away with a win. I’ll ride the hot QB in this matchup. PICK: REDSKINS
New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers
I just don’t see the Jets pulling off back to back games like the week one performance. This Steelers defence is solid and doesn’t give up those yards in the secondary. Roethlisberger was efficient in the passing game and dynamite on third-down conversions. I like the home field advantage in this game. PICK: STEELERS
Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers
It doesn’t really matter who is under center for the Titans in this matchup because if Chris Johnson runs for four yards again this game won’t be close. The Chargers will win this game hands down. PICK: CHARGERS
Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks
Cowboys looked very impressive as they won handily on the road. The Seahawks did not look as impressive as most people imagined they would. Lots of hype on QB Wilson, so let’s see what people think after an 0-2 start. Fantasy spoiler alert; Ogletree goes for four catches and less than 50 yards with no touchdowns. PICK: COWBOYS
Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers
Mathew Stafford struggled mightily against the Rams defence last week. That does not bode well for him or the Lions as this week they travel to San Fran to play the top ranked defence that smothered the Packers in their week one matchup. 49ers keep rolling; Frank Gore goes for another 100 plus yards on the ground. PICK: 49ERS
Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons
Probably the game of the week, taking place on Monday night as both teams are coming off solid victories. Matt Ryan looked great and so did Manning. If Ryan can keep the offence on the field and convert those third downs it will make Manning’s job difficult. I see the game coming down to a Manning fourth quarter drive for victory that falls just short. PICK: FALCONS
LOCK OF THE WEEK: KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
UPSET OF THE WEEK: PITTSBURGH STEELERS
