There has to be a real concern here that Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is going to be forced to go through one of those injury-plagued seasons that happens to nearly every top-end receiver in the NFL at least one time in his career.
Already limited earlier this year in training camp and during offseason activities, Watkins finds himself on the injury report once again with what's being described as a mild calf strain.
The second-year receiver was limited to 12 snaps in Buffalo's blowout victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Through three games, Watkins has put up just seven receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown.
Remember, Watkins underwent off-season hip surgery — something that kept him out of off-season activities. And after performing at a high clip during the early stages of camp, the receiver went down with both a glute and hamstring injury.
While not necessarily serious, Watkins latest setback should be of concern around the fantasy football community. He's going to be questionable for next week's game. And even if Watkins is a go, it's hard to rely on hm to put up huge numbers.
The recommendation here has to be to take a wait-and-see approach with Watkins until he proves he can remain healthy and contribute for the duration of a game.
