Browns at Ravens

The Cleveland Browns have had trouble sustaining any offense this season. That's not likely to change this week.

Off to an 0-2 start, the Browns will hit the road for an AFC North matchup with the Baltimore Ravens (1-1) on Sunday.

Cleveland has squandered halftime leads in both of its first two games, failing to score in the second half in narrow losses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (17-14) and Kansas City Chiefs (16-14).

The prospect of getting the offense turned around appears dim against the Ravens, who enter their home opener having yet to allow a touchdown this season.

Middle linebacker Ray Lewis and Co. have carried the Ravens to four consecutive wins against the Browns, including last season when Baltimore completely manhandled Cleveland's offense.

The Ravens held the Browns to just a field goal in two meetings last season, winning 34-3 at home and posting a 16-0 shutout in Cleveland.

Not much has changed this season for Baltimore's defense, which has allowed seven field goals in its first two games.

Offense has been another story for the Ravens.

Quarterback Joe Flacco turned in a putrid performance in last week's 15-10 loss at the Cincinnati Bengals, throwing four interceptions and completing 17 of 39 passes for 154 yards.

Despite the offseason acquisition of wide receiver Anquan Boldin, the Ravens have scored just 20 points and Flacco has just one touchdown pass against five interceptions.

Boldin has done his part with 12 receptions, including seven for 110 yards in a season-opening 10-9 win over the New York Jets. He needs two catches Sunday to reach 600 for his career.

But turnovers and a struggling running game have limited the offensive production.

Ray Rice, who had over 2,000 yards of total offense in 2009, has rushed for just 130 yards and has only six receptions for 49 yards in the first two games.

Still, Flacco has been the biggest culprit. His 23.8 passer rating last week was the lowest since his rookie season of 2008.

The third-year quarterback could get well against the Browns.

Flacco is 4-0 against Cleveland in his career. He threw for 342 yards on 25-of-35 passing in a 34-3 rout of the Browns in Week 3 last season.

Cleveland signed veteran Jake Delhomme in the offseason with the hope he could solve the team’s quarterback woes, but an ankle injury suffered in the opener sidelined him last week.

Seneca Wallace got the start and finished 16 of 31 for 229 yards with a touchdown and a costly interception that was returned for a touchdown.

Although Delhomme did not practice Wednesday, Browns coach Eric Mangini said he was “optimistic” that he would be available for the game.

Cleveland needs to get its running game untracked.

Jerome Harrison managed just 33 yards on 16 carries against the Chiefs – a team he gashed for 286 yards last season.
