Jets at Dolphins

Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets finally made some positive news on the field last week. It didn't last long.

Less than 36 hours after Sanchez had his finest moment as a professional, "Team Turmoil" absorbed another blow to its diminishing reputation when wide receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested for drunken driving early Tuesday morning.

The latest off-field issue to hit the Jets dimmed the afterglow of a stirring performance by Sanchez in last week's 28-14 victory over the rival New England Patriots.

Even bombastic coach Rex Ryan, who rarely shies away from the spotlight, is growing weary of the constant negative publicity surrounding the Jets.

Ryan lashed out at his players in a team meeting Wednesday morning, saying he was "tired of the embarrassment" the team has caused owner Woody Johnson.

It will be interesting to see how the Jets (1-1) react when they travel to South Beach to take on the undefeated Miami Dolphins (2-0) on Sunday night.

Edwards, whose blood alcohol level was reportedly twice the legal limit, will play in the AFC East showdown against Miami, although he isn't expected to start. He has five touchdown catches in his last three games vs. the Dolphins.

What the Jets would like to see is a repeat performance from Sanchez, who finished 21 of 30 for 220 yards and a career-high three touchdowns in rallying New York past New England a week ago.

Tight end Dustin Keller was on the receiving end of seven of those passes for 115 yards and a touchdown as the Jets outscored the Patriots, 18-0, in the second half.

Sanchez, who had thrown 20 interceptions and just 12 touchdown passes as a rookie, bounced back from a miserable performance in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, when he threw for just 74 yards.

LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 76 yards on 11 carries to help the Jets amass 136 yards on the ground against the Patriots.

Now the Jets will try to reverse a three-game losing streak to Miami, which has allowed just 20 points in road victories at the Buffalo Bills (15-10) and Minnesota Vikings (14-10).

The Dolphins did little offensively against the Vikings, but their defense harassed Brett Favre into three interceptions and came up with a huge goal-line stand in the waning minutes to preserve the victory.

Quarterback Chad Henne attempted just 15 passes, completing nine for 115 yards. That included a 46-yard strike to Brandon Marshall.

With all-world cornerback Darrelle Revis sidelined with a hamstring, Marshall will have an intriguing matchup against Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

Marshall had the best day of his career with the Denver Broncos in 2008, ripping down 18 receptions for 166 yards against a San Diego secondary that included Cromartie.

Miami eked out narrow victories over the Jets twice in a 20-day span last season, winning by scores of 30-25 and 31-27.
