Texans at Jets

Expect quarterback Matt Schaub to be ready to play Sunday when the Houston Texans hit the road to face the New York Jets.

Schaub spent Tuesday night in a hospital and missed Wednesday's practice with a bursa sac injury in his right knee, but is planning to start as Houston (4-5) looks for its first victory over the Jets (7-2) in five tries since joining the league in 2002.

Schaub ranks fifth in the AFC in yards passing (2,320) and completion percentage (64.2). He has started every game in the last two seasons for the Texans and is coming off his fifth 300-yard game of the season last week, a 31-24 loss at Jacksonville.

The loss was Houston's third straight and fourth in five games.

The Texans' Glover Quin batted a Hail Mary pass on the game's final play into the arms of Jacksonville receiver Mike Thomas that turned into a 50-yard touchdown. The defeat came a week after Houston couldn't hold onto a nine-point lead, giving up two touchdowns in the final 5:48 of a 29-23 loss to San Diego.

The Texans rank 32nd in the league in total yards (409.7) and passing yards (301.3) allowed per game. They rank 31st in points allowed per game (28.6) and have yielded at least 24 points in every game this season.

Running back Arian Foster leads a team that has a league-high 13 rushing touchdowns. Foster leads the NFL with 1,239 yards from scrimmage and in fourth-quarter points with 36, but only ran for 56 yards against the Jaguars. New York is fifth in the league with an average of 89.6 rushing yards allowed.

Houston ranks sixth in the league in offense at 372.9 yards per game. Wide receiver Andre Johnson caught nine passes for 146 yards and a touchdown last week, giving him three 100-yard games in his last four. He has averaged 86 yards receiving in his last three games against the Jets.

New York is coming off its second consecutive overtime victory on the road, a 26-20 win over Cleveland on Mark Sanchez's 37-yard touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes with just 16 seconds left in the extra period. The Jets are the first team in NFL history to pull out back-to-back road victories in OT.

The Jets are 5-0 on the road, but are hoping the first of two games in five days at the New Meadowlands Stadium will keep them on pace for an AFC playoff berth. Cincinnati comes in to face New York on Thanksgiving Day.

The Jets are 4-1 in their last five games and are tied with Atlanta and co-AFC East leader New England for the best record in the NFL.

Sanchez, who completed 27 of 44 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns last week, can tie Chad Pennington (16-9, .640) for the second-best record through the first 25 starts by a Jets quarterback in franchise history with a victory.

The Jets are 6-0 this season when Sanchez throws at least one touchdown pass. LaDainian Tomlinson is averaging 98.3 rushing yards per game in three career starts against Houston.
