Eagles at Redskins

Expectations for Sunday's contest between the Philadelphia Eagles and host Washington Redskins experienced a considerable hit after Michael Vick sustained a concussion last week. With the Eagles' electric quarterback likely sidelined, Nick Foles is expected to receive his first start against fellow rookie Robert Griffin III as the last-place NFC East rivals do battle. Philadelphia is limping into the contest after dropping its fifth in a row with a 38-23 setback to Dallas last week.

Washington isn't setting the world on fire either, as only its bye week provided a temporary stop-gap on its three-game losing skid. The rested Redskins looked listless en route to dropping a 21-13 decision to Carolina on Nov. 4, but the prospect of facing three struggling NFC East opponents in a row and playing five division games in their remaining seven could be what ultimately saves their season. Washington visits Dallas on Thanksgiving before hosting New York on Dec. 3.

ABOUT THE EAGLES (3-6): Foles received mixed reviews after relieving Vick last week. The third-round pick completed 22 of 32 passes for 219 yards with a a 44-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin, but also was intercepted for a score which ultimately sealed the contest. The hourglass that is Andy Reid's time with the club may be running out of sand as the team treads closely to missing the postseason for the second straight season.

ABOUT THE REDSKINS (3-6): After a blistering start to the season, Griffin has struggled in his last two contests. The Heisman Trophy winner has completed 39 of 73 passes for just 392 yards and one touchdown during that span. Featured running back Alfred Morris will look to exploit an Eagles defense which is allowing 4.5 yards per carry during the team's losing skid. Morris, who is seventh in the league in rushing with 793 yards, is sixth with 88.1 per game.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Despite its less-than-desirable record, Washington is a plus-seven in turnovers this season. Philadelphia is a minus-11.

2. The Eagles, who have won five of the last six meetings with the Redskins, haven't lost in the nation's capital since 2008.

3. Washington has dropped eight consecutive games to rookie quarterbacks dating to 2006.
