Eagles 17, Giants 10

Backup quarterback Vince Young capped an eight-minute drive in the fourth quarter with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Riley Cooper and the visiting Philadelphia Eagles defeated the host New York Giants 17-10 in a battle for survival Sunday night.

Philadelphia (4-6), which had lost five games in which it led in the fourth quarter, held the Giants to only 29 yards rushing in snapping a two-game losing streak.

The season-saving victory pulled the Eagles within two games of NFC East co-leaders New York and Dallas

Philadelphia led 10-3 entering the fourth quarter, but the Giants tied the game on a 24-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Victor Cruz.

But the Eagles answered with a long drive keyed by Young, who filled in when Michael Vick was forced to miss the game with two broken ribs. Young finished the game 23 for 36 for 258 yards. He tossed two touchdown passes and three interceptions.

New York’s threat to tie the game ended with 1:17 to play when Eli Manning was sacked by Jason Babin and his ensuing fumble was recovered by Derek Landri.

The Eagles led 10-3 at the half, getting a 33-yard field goal by Alex Henery and a 14-yard touchdown pass from Young to former Giant wideout Steve Smith. The touchdown was set up by a long punt return by DeSean Jackson.

The Giants (6-4) were held to 86 yards of total offense in the first half and 50 of them came on their final drive, which set up a 48-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes.

New York played without running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who missed his third straight game with a foot injury. Backup D.J. Ware suffered a concussion in the second quarter and did not return.
