Cowboys 31, Rams 7

DeMarco Murray thrashed the St. Louis defense once again and Tony Romo threw touchdown passes to three different receivers as Dallas notched a comfortable home victory.

Murray ran 26 times for 175 yards and a touchdown and added three catches for 28 yards. The last time the Cowboys faced the Rams, Murray set a franchise record with 253 rushing yards in a 34-7 victory on Oct. 23, 2011.

Romo was 17-of-24 for 210 yards with scoring strikes to Dez Bryant in the first quarter, Gavin Escobar in the third and Dwayne Harris in the fourth. In all, Dallas (2-1) outgained St. Louis, 396-232, thanks in large part to Murray, Romo and six sacks by the Cowboys defense.

Romo found Bryant for a 2-yard TD pass on their opening possession, an eight-play, 61-yard march that included a pair of 14-yard runs by Murray. The next Dallas drive began with Murray’s 36-yard scamper and ended with a short field goal by Dan Bailey, making it 10-0.

The Cowboys’ third possession featured plenty of Murray, as well, with the third-year running back catching two passes for 26 yards before punctuating the drive with a 2-yard TD run to make it 17-0. The Rams (1-2) got on the board late in the third quarter on Sam Bradford’s 4-yard pass to Austin Pettis on fourth-and-goal, but Romo answered early in the fourth with a 24-yard strike to Harris to complete the scoring.
