Preparing to play Daily Fantasy Hockey tonight? In the Powerplay article today we’ll cover a lot of areas to assist in your research and make strong lineups to win your games on FanDuel.
The NHL has a ten-game schedule today with several intriguing matchups to consider for your daily fantasy hockey lineups. There are a few teams that stand out as the best targets for your cash game lineups, and with the large schedule there are a significant number of different strategies to use for your tournament teams. Let’s go through a lot of information and data to help piece together the puzzle for tonight.
GAME ANALYSIS – 12/9
Edmonton Oilers (175 Underdog) @ San Jose Sharks (-225 Favorite) - 10:30pm EST
Daily Fantasy Analysis:
Edmonton stunned everybody with a 2-1 win over San Jose on Sunday, ending their 11 game losing streak which lasted nearly a month. The two teams do battle again tonight, this time in San Jose. Despite the Oilers’ win last game, they are far from a team to consider in daily fantasy still. The Sharks players are definitely in play though if you can shake off the fact that they lost to Edmonton last game, and might have cost you money in your daily hockey contests. The Sharks offense has woken up over the last week, and many players are great options tonight in either your cash game or tournament lineups. For cash games, look to take one of the forwards from each of their top two lines, that also play together on the Sharks’ first powerplay unit (Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau), plus defenseman Brent Burns if you can squeeze him in.
RECOMMENDED PLAYS FOR FANDUEL
Scott Darling ($6,000) – Darling is an extremely strong VALUE play in goal, and he might be the best goaltender play overall tonight also. He has been excellent in limited action (4 games, 3 wins, 1.73 GAA), and starts tonight in a great matchup against a beaten up Devils team. Darling is definitely the best GPP goalie tonight, and there is a good argument to be made that he is the best cash game goaltender tonight also. Considering his low price, you can load up your fantasy team with a lot of offense around him.
TOP TEAMS TO TARGET
Tampa Bay Lightning – The Bolts lead the league in goals, and are a threat any night to score four or more. That continues tonight against the Capitals who have been weak in net this year, and bad on the penalty kill. Tampa Bay has a lot of offensive weapons, with a lot of choice for who to use in your lineups. A good strategy may be to get exposure to both of their top lines in your cash games, along with Hedman if you can afford him; and to use separate stacks of both top forward lines in your tournament lineups.
