Daily FanDuel Fantasy Hockey Picks: Feb 19, 2015

The NHL delivers a seven game schedule tonight with some great games and several of the league’s top offensive teams in action. The race to the Stanley Cup playoffs continues with all teams having around 25 games remaining, and many teams fighting for playoff positioning. There are a few teams that have the potential for a lot of goals tonight, and they stand out as top targets for your daily fantasy hockey lineups. With the seven games and 14 teams hitting the ice, things setup for a great night for DFS hockey tournament action.

Today’s article will provide analysis for the teams in action, top teams to target for daily fantasy, recommend players for FanDuel, and even sample lineups that could be used to help build ones for tonight’s play.

Top Teams to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey

Pittsburgh Penguins – The Penguins have an explosive offense and are facing a Blue Jackets team that has had trouble keeping the puck out of their net since the injury to goaltender Bobrovsky. Columbus has given up 15 goals over their past four games, and have allowed the most shots per game in the month of February. Look for the Penguins’ snipers to score at least a few tonight, and you’ll want to get a lot of exposure to them in both your tournament lineups (stacking either top forward line or the top powerplay) and cash game lineups (multiple Pens forwards, including at least one from each top line).

Recommended Plays for FanDuel

TOP DEFENSEMEN PLAYS

Kris Letang ($7,600) – Letang is among the offensive leaders for defensemen in all major categories (goals, assists, points, shots on goal), and has produced fantasy points consistently all season. On nights like tonight where the Penguins are in a great position to score, it is difficult to decide which forward line to choose, so getting Letang in your lineup is a great way to cover things as he’s usually involved in the team’s scoring.

Michael Del Zotto ($3,200) – Del Zotto’s price remains low, despite regular offensive production over the past month (11 points in past 12 games). MDZ had a big game on Tuesday with a goal, an assist and three shots (6.2 FanDuel points), and he makes a great VALUE play again tonight.

TOP CENTER PLAYS

Jason Spezza ($6,500) – A lot of the expensive Centers (see below) are in good matchups tonight and are good plays in your daily fantasy games. We’ll look instead to the middle tier for some additional recommended plays. Spezza is riding a six game point streak with two monster games in that span. Dallas faces a San Jose team ranked dead last in goals against in the month of February, and the Stars have gone off for several big scoring games this year, making Spezza a great play tonight, especially in tournaments.
