Daily FanDuel Fantasy Hockey Picks: Feb 26, 2015

The NHL is back to a solid 9 game schedule on Thursday night and there are several teams that stand out as big favorites and good targets for our daily fantasy lineups. In addition to that, nearly every team could be stacked for tournaments and it’s a good night to put together a handful of lineups covering different combinations of teams, and throw them into the same tournament or two. In today’s article we’ll go through the top teams and players, for building winning lineups this evening in FanDuel.

Top Teams to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey

New York Rangers – The game between the Rangers and Coyotes in New York is a major mismatch and could be the biggest blowout of the night. The Rangers have won seven of their past eight games and lead all teams in goal scoring in February, while the Coyotes have lost seven straight and have been outscored 28-9 in that span. The Rangers beat Arizona 5-1 in their own rink a couple weeks ago, and we can expect a similar result tonight. In daily fantasy, all players on the Rangers’ top two lines and their top two defensemen (Ryan McDonagh and Dan Boyle) are in-play for cash game lineups and GPP tournament stacks.

Recommended Plays for FanDuel

TOP GOALTENDER PLAYS

Jonathan Quick ($8,100) – Quick has won his past eight starts, including a shutout last game, and has had big fantasy points in several of those games. Tonight the Kings are big favorites and playing the Senators who are the back half of two road games in two nights. At this moderate price, Quick is a great option for both cash game and tournament lineups tonight.

TOP LEFT WINGER PLAYS

Alex Galchenyuk ($4,600) – While there are several good and more expensive options at Left Wing tonight (see below), I’ll focus on a couple cheaper options. Galchenyuk plays on the Canadiens’ second line and second powerplay unit, and is very capable of a big game (including seven multi-point games this year). The tough part of course is trying to figure out when they’ll come. Galchenyuk did put up a monster game on Tuesday with two goals and three points (12.2 FanDuel points), and perhaps he can make it two in a row against the Blue Jackets tonight.

Zack Kassian ($3,500) – This is a near-automatic play tonight for cash game lineups, and also part of a Canucks stack in tournaments. Kassian has seven goals and 10 points in his past 10 games, the last three of those while playing wing on the Canucks’ top line with the Sedin twins. Despite all that, Kassian’s price is still extremely low, so take advantage now as it’s due for a big spike.

TOP RIGHT WINGER PLAYS

Wayne Simmonds ($6,100) – The Flyers offense has been quiet lately, but Simmonds is the one player on the team that has been producing consistently. Over the past month, Simmonds has eight goals and six assists in 13 games, while playing on the Flyers’ second line and moving up to the top powerplay unit. He has points in each of the two previous games against the Leafs this year and that streak should continue tonight.
