Daily FanDuel Fantasy Hockey Picks: Jan 16, 2015

Preparing to play Daily Fantasy Hockey tonight? In the Powerplay article today we’ll cover a lot of areas to assist in your research and make strong lineups to win your games on FanDuel.

The NHL has a six game schedule tonight, which is above average for a Friday night, and there are some intriguing matchups to look at when build your daily fantasy hockey lineups. There are several teams with high powered offensives playing, which makes things interesting when building tournament lineups, and there are definitely a few favored teams that you’ll want to target for your cash game lineups.

Today’s article will provide analysis for the teams in action, top teams to target for daily fantasy, recommend players for FanDuel, and even sample lineups that could be used to help build ones for tonight’s play.

Top Teams to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey

Anaheim Ducks – Anaheim has been beating everyone lately, including several good teams (St. Louis, Nashville, San Jose) and tonight they face a New Jersey team that is weak defensively, especially on the road. Anaheim has scored four goals in four of their past five games, and are in a great spot to continue that in this matchup. The top line is definitely where you’ll want to target, with stars Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry being very expensive but worth paying up for, it you can afford it. Their linemate Patrick Maroon is also a good play, and a great way to get exposure to the Ducks’ top line but at a reduced price.

Recommended Plays for FanDuel

TOP GOALTENDER PLAYS:

Carter Hutton ($7,100) – With tonight’s relatively small schedule, Hutton is by far the best VALUE goaltender on the board. Hutton had a very good season last year, but is winless thus far in 2014/15. However, he has yet to have a start at home all year, and that changes tonight with Hutton now starting in place of the injured Pekka Rinne. Washington is a team that can go off for a few goals, but that has not been the case lately, and the Predators dominate even good offensive teams at home. Consider Hutton for certain in GPP tournaments, and potentially even for your cash games as well.

TOP DEFENSEMEN PLAYS:

Johnny Boychuk ($4,600) – Boychuk has been the Islanders’ top offensive defenseman and powerplay quarterback over the past several games, and he’s been producing in that role with six points in the past eight games (and averaging 3.4 FanDuel points per game in that period). On a night without a lot of high end options in good matchups at Defense, Boychuk stands out as a nice play and at a relatively low salary.
