Daily FanDuel Fantasy Hockey Picks: Jan 20, 2015

Preparing to play Daily Fantasy Hockey tonight? In the Powerplay article today we’ll cover a lot of areas to assist in your research and make strong lineups to win your games on FanDuel.

The NHL has an eight-game schedule on Tuesday night, which is lighter than usual. However, there are a lot of teams with high powered offenses in great positions to score tonight, so that should make for an intriguing night for daily fantasy. Today’s article will highlight which teams to target and how to use them for daily fantasy success in both cash games (50/50s, head-to-head) and GPP tournaments.

Today’s article will provide analysis for the teams in action, top teams to target for daily fantasy, recommend players for FanDuel, and even sample lineups that could be used to help build ones for tonight’s play.

Top Teams to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey

Chicago Blackhawks – Chicago is a massive favorite at home to Arizona and they make a strong case for highest scoring team of the night. For daily fantasy purposes, the question isn’t whether to use the Blackhawks players in your lineups, it is how to use them. Considering the fact that as many as eight Blackhawks forwards and two defensemen (all players on top two powerplay lines) are all in play tonight, we’ll want to balance our lineup out for cash games with one forward from each of the top two lines - Brandon Saad - Jonathan Toews - Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane - Brad Richards - Bryan Bickel. In addition to that, a third Blackhawk forward or one of defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook could be included also. For tournament lineups, stacks of four Blackhawks from a scoring line (plus defenseman) or a powerplay unit should be used.

Recommended Plays for FanDuel

TOP GOALTENDER PLAYS

Antti Raanta ($8,500) – If looking to save a little money at the goaltender position, look to Raanta who should shut down an offensively-weak Coyotes team. Raanta has been great this season in a back-up role for the Blackhawks, and he’s been especially strong at home (6 wins in 6 starts, 1.34 GAA, .957 SvPct). We can expect Raanta to be highly owned in all formats tonight, but we shouldn’t avoid using him for that reason (except in some tournament lineups, just to be different).

TOP RIGHT WINGER PLAYS

David Perron ($6,000) – If you’re targeting Pittsburgh players tonight, then Perron should be the first one you add to your lineup. The newest Penguin was acquired from Edmonton a few weeks ago and was immediately inserted into the Penguins’ top line alongside Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz. He’s taken full advantage of that opportunity, and has been hot lately with four goals and six points in his past three games. Perron is someone that should continue be targeted, while his salary is still moderate, since using him is a great way to get exposure to the Penguins’ top line with Crosby, and top powerplay unit, with Evgeni Malkin added.
