The NHL has a typically small Friday night schedule, with only three games in action. Despite the small slate, there is high potential for a plethora of goals tonight and it’s tough to decide on a goaltender for your lineups. With cash games (50/50, head-to-head), it’s a good night to spread out your team across four or more different teams, while for tournaments every team is a target.
We’ll break things down in this article today with the top teams to target and recommended players to use to build winning FanDuel lineups, Included also are a few sample FanDuel lineups.
Top Team to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey
Dallas Stars – On this short schedule night, the Stars are the clear number one offensive team to target. Dallas ranks second in the league in goals this year and first while on the road. Meanwhile, Edmonton is dead last in goals against and they’ve found a way to be even worse lately, giving up nearly four goals per game in March. The Stars have been getting secondary scoring from the line of Jason Spezza, Patrick Eaves and Ales Hemsky lately, in addition to their dynamic top line of Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Cody Eakin. Both lines are good stack options for tournaments, and a couple of the forwards should be included in cash game lineups. On defense, John Klingberg is the Stars’ top defenseman and power play quarterback, while Alex Goligoski is also a good play.
Recommended Players for FanDuel
TOP GOALTENDER PLAYS
Devan Dubnyk ($9,800) – There is no safe goaltender play tonight, but Dubnyk is the best choice for cash games and GPP tournaments where his high salary can be fit in. While Price has been the best goaltender this season, Dubnyk has been the best goaltender in the league since the All-Star break. Over list last 28 starts, he has 22 wins to go along with a 1.64 goals against average and a .943 save percentage. Dubnyk has been the biggest reason why Minnesota is in the driver seat for a playoff spot. Dubnyk and the Wild beat the Flames 3-2 last month in Calgary, and a similar result should be expected this evening.
TOP LEFT WINGER PLAYS
Jamie Benn ($8,500) – Benn has a four-game point streak going with four goals and seven points (29.2 FanDuel points). This recent surge has moved him amongst the league leaders in points with 71, and he is also near the top in shots on goal. The Stars’ top line should be the highest score group of the night and you’ll want to get exposure to at least one of them and possibly two.
Teddy Purcell ($3,000) – Purcell skates on the Oilers’ second line and moves up to play on the top power play unit. A weak season with only 30 points has dropped his salary to the minimum but he only needs a single point to be a productive fantasy player this evening, and he should get plenty of chances on these lines.
TOP CENTER PLAYS
Andrew Shaw ($4,600) – Shaw has bounced around the top three lines for the Blackhawks this season, and has recently been moved to the top line with Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad, along with the top power play unit. Shaw has three goals in his past two games and playing with top playmaker Toews will definitely help to keep that streak going. The Blue Jackets rank amongst the league’s worst teams in many defensive categories, and the Hawks should score a few in this game.
