It is a very interesting night in the NHL with 10 games on the schedule, and following the NHL trade deadline yesterday. There were 24 trades made on Monday, and 42 in total in the past week, with many teams loading up for the stretch run and the Stanley Cup playoffs, and several of the also-rans selling off players. There are plenty of intriguing games with top offensive teams playing against some of those weaker teams, and this gives us no shortest of teams to target for both our cash game (50/50, head-to-head) and GPP tournament lineups. Considering all this, it is a tricky and exciting night for DFS hockey.
Today’s article will provide analysis for the teams in action, top teams to target for daily fantasy, recommend players for FanDuel, and even sample lineups that could be used to help build ones for tonight’s play.
Top Teams to Target Tonight for Daily Fantasy Hockey
Tampa Bay Lightning – This one looks too easy! The NHL’s top scoring team in a home game against the team that scores the fewest goals and allows the most in the league (Buffalo Sabres). This is an incredible matchup for the Lightning and the Vegas line in this game is massive. The Bolts will be very popular tonight in daily fantasy, and for tournament play you’ll want to build some lineups with them and some without them. For cash game lineups, you’ll want to get at least a couple Lightning players in your lineup, with players spread across the top two scoring lines.
Anaheim Ducks – It’s been nine straight losses for the Coyotes, and they’ve been outscored 36 to 13 in that period. Oh and they just traded their two top leading scorers yesterday. Arizona is clearly looking more towards next year and their results lately have really shown that. The Ducks on the other hand have won five of their past six games and they’re battling for top spot in the wild wild west. The duo of Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf is very good, but also very expensive. That said, most of the other Ducks on the top two scoring lines and also their top defensemen are value plays, and it would be worthwhile getting a few Ducks in your lineup.
Recommended Plays for FanDuel
TOP DEFENSEMEN PLAYS
Victor Hedman ($5,100) – The Lightning are the top team to target tonight and as many as 10 of their players are good options to use tonight in daily fantasy. With multiple forward lines having the possibility to score, it is a good night to get their top defenseman in your lineup. It has been a while since Hedman put up a big game, but he has been fairly consistent with scoring points on a regular basis (including three in his past four games), and perhaps tonight against Buffalo he will have another of those big fantasy games.
TOP LEFT WINGER PLAYS
Jonathan Huberdeau ($5,200) – There are several high priced LWs in action tonight with good matchups and there are plenty of options at this position at various price points. Huberdeau is a great play tonight in the mid salary range, in a home game against the Leafs. Huberdeau is coming off a three-point game on Sunday and should be able to build on that and produce another good game.
TOP RIGHT WINGER PLAYS
Corey Perry ($8,900) – The Ducks’ duo of Perry and Ryan Getzlaf is one of the best in the league and both are amongst the league leaders in points this season (and most seasons). On many nights it’s tough to pay up for Perry but against the Coyotes (who are near last in goals against and other defensive categories), he is someone you want to target. For tournament lineups, use both Perry and Getzlaf, and fill in some value players to complete the lineup. For cash game lineups, it’s good to get one of them to get exposure to that line.
