Kris Letang of the Penguins recently came up in the news a week ago when he was asked to submit a list of 15 teams he would accept a trade to. He has to do that every summer so it was no wonder that people will bringing his name up in trade talks. Jim Rutherford has no intentions to move him though and it wouldn't make sense to since he's their best defenseman. It's always interesting though to see where he could go if Jim Rutherford was actually shopping him. Without further adue, let's take a look at where Letang would want to go to.
Montreal Canadians
This one is a no brainer since Montreal is on the list that he would want to go to. He is from Montreal so a return home would probably feel amazing for Kris Letang. He would also get the opportunity to play with P.K. Subban who's arguably the best defenseman in the NHL. Imagine if those two were paired together. That's just death to almost every team in the league. Montreal would have to give up a ton though to get Letang. I'd have to guess the Penguins would ask for Max Pacioretty or maybe even Tomas Plekanec. A pick or two could also go to Pittsburgh as well.
Ottawa Senators
I don't know if this team is on the list since the whole list wasn't exposed to everyone but, I think this team would also be on the list. It also has some french in it and I'm sure he would go to Ottawa as well. I don't know if Ottawa has the trade assets that Pittsburgh would be looking for though. You could try to get Bobby Ryan this season but he's a free agent next season and could command a lot on the market.
I doubt Pittsburgh would be able to afford what Ryan would ask for. Erik Karlsson I know is untouchable as he is also arguably the best defenseman in the NHL when healthy. They could try to pry away Craig Anderson from Ottawa as he will be a free agent soon and is a huge upgrade over Marc-Andre Fleury. One could also imagine the pairing of Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang too. That's death as well. Obviously these trades may not happen, but it's always cool to speculate where one of the best players on the Penguins could go.
