Sean Rodriguez hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning as the Tampa Bay Rays rallied for a 5-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night.
Willy Aybar got the Rays to 4-3 with a an RBI double in the eighth. Reid Brignac pinch ran for Aybar and Rodriguez homered off Craig Breslow (4-4), who took the loss.
Randy Choate (3-3) got the win after allowing one hit in a scoreless seventh inning. Rafael Soriano pitched a perfect ninth for his 36th save.
Oakland starter Brett Anderson allowed two runs on eight hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts and a pair of walks.
Tampa Bay starter David Price allowed four runs on six hits in six innings, but got off the hook for the loss thanks to Rodriguez. Price struck out five.
Mark Ellis doubled and drove in two runs for Oakland. Daric Barton was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Rajai Davis and Kevin Kouzmanoff also had RBIs.
The Rays' Evan Longoria hit his 18th homer, and third in the last four games. Ben Zobrist brought home the Rays' other run with a sacrifice fly.
