Nationals 2, Phillies 1
Adam Dunn led off the bottom of the ninth inning with his 38th home run of the season to lift the Washington Nationals to a 2-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
Nyjer Morgan scored on a groundout in the first inning as the Nationals (68-90) won for the sixth time in eight games despite managing just three hits in this one.
Drew Storen (4-4) struck out two in the top of the ninth inning to pick up the win.
Jose Contreras (6-4) was saddled with the loss. Dunn was the only batter he faced in the contest.
Raul Ibanez belted a solo homer and Ryan Howard and Ben Francisco had two hits apiece for NL East champion Philadelphia (94-64), which fell to 18-4 in road games since Aug. 1.
Jimmy Rollins went 1-for-3 in his return to the Phillies' starting lineup. The three-time All-Star shortstop, who had been hampered by a hamstring injury since Sept. 8, exited Tuesday's contest in the fifth inning for precautionary reasons.
