Rays 3, Orioles 0
Jeremy Hellickson pitched a four-hitter for his first career shutout and Matt Joyce belted a two-run homer as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the visiting Baltimore Orioles 3-0 on Friday night.
Hellickson (4-2) retired the last 13 batters he faced, and struck out three and walked one with a career-high 120 pitches. Hellickson shut out the Orioles for five innings to get the win on May 7.
Evan Longoria led off the second with a single before Joyce homered to right field for his third in four games.
Joyce and Longoria each had two hits for the Rays (23-15), who have won seven of eight games. Johnny Damon added a solo homer in the eighth.
Orioles starter Jeremy Guthrie (1-6), who has not won since opening day against the Rays, gave up three runs on seven hits in eight innings as Baltimore (17-20) had its three-game winning streak snapped.
The Orioles had runners on first and second with two outs in the fourth before Hellickson induced a ground out from Adam Jones, who had been 6-for-12 with two outs and a runner in scoring position.
