Blue Jays 13, White Sox 4

Aaron Hill's grand slam highlighted a six-run first inning that guided the host Toronto Blue Jays to a 13-4 drubbing of the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon.

Hill's bases-loaded blast to left field off John Danks (0-8) was his first home run of the year, and his first career grand slam in 3,072 at-bats. Hill had gone 154 at-bats without a long ball dating back to 2010 before connecting against the American League's first eight-game loser in Danks.

Corey Patterson was Toronto's other big offensive star, hitting his fourth homer of the season - and second in as many games - as part of a four-hit explosion that gave him nine hits over the final two games of the series. The weekend outburst raised Patterson's average from .268 to .301.

Edwin Encarnacion added his first homer of the year, a solo shot in the first that snapped an 0-for-44 slump by Toronto's third basemen dating back to last week.

The offensive outburst made an easy winner out of Ricky Romero (5-4), who surrendered two runs on six hits over seven strong innings. Romero has allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last four starts, lowering his ERA from 4.04 to 2.88.

Danks was walloped for a season-high nine runs on nine hits in four rough innings. The veteran lefty is the first White Sox hurler in 69 years to lose his first eight decisions.

Carlos Quentin and Ramon Castro homered for Chicago, which dropped three of four in Toronto.
