Royals 5, Rays 4 (10)
Eric Hosmer doubled home Mike Aviles in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Kansas City Royals a 5-4 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night.
Billy Butler led off the 10th with a single off Brandon Gomes (0-1). Aviles ran for Butler and easily scored on Hosmer’s line drive to left-center field - his third hit of the game - as the Royals won their fourth straight.
Joakim Soria (5-3) got out of a bases-loaded, none-out jam in the top of the 10th. Soria got the first out on a grounder back to the mound, and struck out Sam Fuld and Elliot Johnson looking.
Kansas City's Alex Gordon (three hits) tied the game in the ninth with a two-out, RBI double off Rays’ closer Kyle Farnsworth, who blew his fourth save.
Desmond Jennings, recalled from Triple A Norfolk on Friday, Evan Longoria and Ben Zobrist each had two hits and an RBI for the Rays.
Mike Moustakas had two hits and three RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in the sixth that pulled the Royals within 4-3. It was Moustakas' first career multi-RBI game.
