Rays 8, Mariners 0

Evan Longoria drove in four runs and Jeremy Hellickson threw eight scoreless innings for his third win against the Seattle Mariners this season, as the Tampa Bay Rays cruised to an 8-0 victory on Saturday at Tropicana Field.

The Rays have won six straight at home and nine of 11 overall, but they are still eight games behind the New York Yankees in the American League East and 7 1/2 games behind Boston in the wild-card race.

Hellickson (11-8) allowed just six hits and a walk to win for the fourth time in five starts.

The Mariners, who rank last in the majors in runs scored, were shut out for the 11th time this season.

Longoria connected for his 20th home run of the season in the first inning, a two-run shot against Charlie Furbush (3-5), and added a two-run single in the eighth. Longoria, who drove in the tying run in Friday's opener, has 19 RBIs in his past 15 games.

Johnny Damon went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in Tampa Bay's three-run third inning.

Seattle's Mike Carp extended his hitting streak to 19 games with a single in the fourth.

The Mariners have lost four straight and dropped to 21-39 on the road.
