Royals 3, Blue Jays 2

Jeff Francoeur had a two-run single and Luke Hochevar tossed seven strong innings as the Kansas City Royals recorded a 3-2 home triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday.

Rookie Eric Hosmer collected his eighth multi-hit game in 11 outings and added an RBI single in a three-run third inning. The victory was just Kansas City's fifth in its last 19 games.

Hochevar (4-6) made the offense stand up and snapped a six-start winless streak for his first victory since May 1. He allowed two runs on six hits while walking three and striking out three.

Rookie Aaron Crow stranded runners on second and third in the eighth inning and Joakim Soria induced Corey Patterson to pop out with the bases loaded to secure his first save since May 20.

Rookie J.P. Arencibia ripped a two-run triple in the fourth inning and Adam Lind went 3-for-4 to improve to 9-for-18 in his last five games for Toronto.

Ricky Romero (5-6) allowed three runs on eight hits in eight innings to suffer his second straight loss.
