Indians 9, Royals 4
Justin Masterson raised his record to 5-0 and the Cleveland Indians clubbed five home runs en route to a 9-4 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.
Jack Hannahan hit two solo homers and Shin-Soo Choo added a three-run shot for the Indians (14-8), who have won eight straight at home and snapped an overall three-game losing streak. Grady Sizemore belted a two-run homer and Matt LaPorta hit a solo shot for the Tribe.
Masterson allowed three runs and five hits in 6 2/3 innings. He retired the first 10
batters before allowing two runs on four straight hits in the fourth.
The right-hander also gave up a solo homer to Melky Cabrera in the
sixth.
Hannahan homered off Luke Hochevar (2-3) in the third and again in the
fifth. The second home run followed a solo blast by LaPorta that broke a
2-2 tie.
Choo, who drove in four runs, hit the first pitch from reliever Louis
Coleman into Cleveland's bullpen in center field in the seventh.
Sizemore homered in the eighth.
Alex Gordon extended his hitting streak to 19 games with an RBI double in the fourth for Kansas City (12-11), which has lost a season-high four straight games and seven of nine.
