Rockies 8, Indians 7
Jason Giambi's three-run homer capped a six-run fifth inning and led the Colorado Rockies to an 8-7 win over the host Cleveland Indians on Monday night.
Colorado trailed 4-1 entering the fifth, but rallied with two outs and nobody on against Fausto Carmona. After Todd Helton drew a bases-loaded walk, Troy Tulowitzki, who had an RBI single in the first, bounced a two-run double off the third-base bag that tied the game.
Giambi, who was in the lineup as Colorado's designated hitter, hammered a 3-1 pitch into Cleveland's bullpen in center field and gave Colorado (36-36) the lead.
Matt Lindstrom (2-1) pitched a scoreless sixth for the win. Huston Street pitched the ninth for his 21st save.
Travis Hafner's three-run homer in the first and Carlos Santana's solo home run in the fourth off Juan Nicasio built Cleveland's lead.
Carmona (4-9) allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings and has given up at least four runs in eight straight starts.
Nicasio allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings.
