Dodgers 4, Tigers 0

Clayton Kershaw pitched a two-hitter and drove in two runs to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-0 victory over the visiting Detroit Tigers on Monday.

With 11 strikeouts, which matched a season high, Kershaw (7-3) took over the major league lead with 117. Kershaw threw 112 pitches to record his third career complete game and second this season.

Kershaw improved to 4-0 at Dodger Stadium in six starts since the beginning of May as the Dodgers won their second straight game - both shutouts.

Juan Uribe gave the Dodgers an early lead with a home run in the first inning off Brad Penny (5-6), who gave up two runs on seven hits over six innings. Penny was an All-Star with Los Angeles in 2006 and 2007.

The Tigers entered the game batting .312 with 95 runs scored in 18 games during June, but Kershaw retired the last 13 batters in order after Ryan Raburn’s two-out walk in the fifth.

Kershaw singled home two insurance runs with two outs in the eighth as Los Angeles improved to 2-5 on its season-long 12-game homestand.
