Marlins 5, Diamondbacks 2
Anibal Sanchez pitched eight strong innings and drove in a pair of runs, leading the visiting Florida Marlins to a 5-2 victory at Arizona on Tuesday night and snapping the Diamondbacks' seven-game winning streak.
Sanchez (5-1) gave up a solo homer to Justin Upton in the first inning but allowed just five hits the rest of the way. He struck out seven and walked one to remain unbeaten since April 10.
He put the Marlins in front to stay with an RBI groundout in the fourth inning and added another in the sixth. Leo Nunez pitched the ninth for his major league-leading 19th save.
Emilio Bonifacio opened the Florida scoring when he drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning against Ian Kennedy (6-2), and Sanchez followed with a grounder to score Mike Stanton. Logan Morrison and Gaby Sanchez hit solo home runs in the fifth and seventh innings, respectively.
Kennedy gave up five hits and three walks in five innings, his shortest outing since he took his only other loss on April 13. Kelly Johnson hit a solo home run in the eighth inning for Arizona, his third in the last two games.
