Mets 7, Padres 3
David Wright hit a three-run homer and Angel Pagan also had three RBIs as the New York Mets beat the Padres 7-3 on Wednesday for only their second series win in San Diego since 2000.
Dillon Gee (11-4) allowed one run, five hits and four walks over 6 2/3 innings for the Mets, who recorded their first series victory at Petco Park, which opened in 2004.
The Mets bullpen entered the game with a major-league worst 5.62 ERA in August, and Ryota Igarashi made things interesting in the ninth inning by giving up two runs before striking out Jason Bartlett with a runner at second.
Wright hit his 10th home run in the third off Mat Latos (6-12), who allowed three runs and struck out six over six innings.
Gee provided the Mets' top defensive highlight when he started a double play with a behind-the-back grab of Bartlett’s comebacker in the third.
San Diego's Kyle Blanks answered in the ninth when he robbed Lucas Duda of a home run with a catch above the left field wall.
