Brewers 6, Mets 2
Prince Fielder drove in a pair of runs to seize the National League RBI lead on Sunday as the Milwaukee Brewers completed a three-game sweep of the host New York Mets with a 5-2 triumph.
Casey McGehee added a solo blast for the Brewers, who have won 22 of the past 25 games to run their lead in the NL Central to nine games over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Mets have dropped 15 of 20.
Yovani Gallardo (14-8) started for Milwaukee and cruised through the first six innings, yielding three hits. The Mets finally got to the righthander in the seventh when David Wright led off with a single and Lucas Duda followed with a home run to deep right to knot it at 2-2.
The Brewers got some help from the New York defense to re-take the lead in the eighth. With runners on first and third, Fielder grounded a possible double-play ball to second but Justin Turner sailed the throw into left field. Nyjer Morgan crossed with the go-ahead run and Fielder got credit for his second RBI of the game and 98th of the season.
Milwaukee tacked on two more runs in the ninth to put it away.
Manny Acosta (1-1) suffered the loss.
