Cubs 4, Phillies 3 (11)
Tyler Colvin scored from second base on Placido Polanco's throwing error in the 11th inning, lifting the visiting Chicago Cubs to a 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday.
Polanco bounced a throw on a routine ground ball by rookie Darwin Barney to allow Chicago to win its second straight following eight straight losses.
The Cubs battled back from an early 3-0 deficit and tied it in the ninth inning on Geovany Soto's one-out homer off Phillies closer Ryan Madson.
Colvin appeared to put Chicago ahead with another blast in the very next at-bat, but it was overturned upon video review due to a fan reaching over the railing and touching the ball.
Starlin Castro and Carlos Pena each had two hits and an RBI for the Cubs, who received 8 2/3 scoreless innings from their bullpen following a rain delay of 1 hour, 17 minutes in the third inning.
Carlos Marmol worked around a leadoff single in the 11th for his 12th save of the season.
Madson suffered his first blown save after coughing up his first homer of the season. David Herndon (0-1) took the loss.
