Twins 5, Rangers 4

Alexi Casilla looped a single down the left-field line with two outs in the ninth inning to drive in the winning run and lift the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 win over the Texas Rangers on Thursday.

Casilla’s hit off reliever Arthur Rhodes drove in Luke Hughes, who led off the inning with a double against Mark Lowe (1-1). It was the Twins' third walkoff victory of the year and enabled them to win for the seventh time in eight games.

The winning pitcher was Jim Hoey (1-2), the fifth Twins pitcher, who struck out one in two-thirds of an inning.

Josh Hamilton gave Texas a 1-0 lead with his fourth homer of the season in the first inning, but Minnesota came back to tie it in the second on a homer by Delmon Young.

The Twins went ahead 4-1 when Michael Cuddyer ripped a three-run homer to deep center field.

Texas scratched out two runs in the sixth and tied the game at 4-4 in the eighth when Nelson Cruz delivered his 15th home run, a long blast to left that landed in the upper deck.
