Astros 4, Dodgers 3
A walk-off single by Hunter Pence capped a two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting Houston to a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.
The Dodgers had taken a 3-1 lead in the seventh on a pinch-hit RBI single by Andre Ethier and a Houston throwing error, but the Astros came to life against Los Angeles reliever Kenley Jansen (1-1) in their final at-bat.
After a double-steal by Bill Hall and Angel Sanchez put runners on second and third with two out, Michael Bourn tied the game with a double to right field. Jansen hit Clint Barmes with a pitch before Pence dropped a 1-0 pitch into shallow left.
Jeff Fulchino (1-2) picked up the win after pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the Astros. Starter Bud Norris lasted seven innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits and three walks, while Clayton Kershaw walked two and scattered four hits and a run while striking out seven in six innings for Los Angeles.
Hall had four of Houston's nine hits, doubling twice and scoring in the third inning to tie it after Matt Kemp had hit a solo home run in the second for Los Angeles.
