Giants 3, Pirates 2 (10)
Darren Ford scored his second run of the game on a groundout in the top of the 10th inning and Brian Wilson worked the bottom half for his sixth save as the San Francisco Giants began their 10-game road trip with a 3-2 triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday.
Freddy Sanchez had two hits and an RBI while Aaron Rowand went 2-for-4 with a run for the Giants, who snapped a four-game losing streak.
Garrett Jones hit a solo home run and Lyle Overbay had an RBI single for the Pirates, who fell to 2-2 on their six-game homestand.
Pinch-hitter Nate Schierholtz led off the 10th with a double but was erased on a fielder's choice by Ford, who went from first to third on an errant pickoff throw by Joel Hanrahan (0-1). Ford initially held at third on Sanchez's grounder to second before racing home to score the go-ahead run.
Sergio Romo (1-0) tossed a perfect bottom of the ninth.
Pittsburgh grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second as Jones belted a one-out solo homer, his fourth of the season. It also was his fourth hit in 10 career at-bats against Matt Cain, who yielded two runs and four hits in six innings.
Rowand helped San Francisco pull even in the sixth when he led off with a double and scored two batters later on Aubrey Huff's sacrifice fly.
Matt Diaz helped Pittsburgh move ahead in the bottom of the inning when he drew a two-out walk and stole second before scoring on Overbay's hit down the third-base line.
Buster Posey lifted a sacrifice fly in the eighth to knot the game at 2-2.
