Jason Marquis pitched a five-hitter and outdueled two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum as the host Washington Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants 3-0 on Friday.
Marquis (3-0) struck out seven and lowered his ERA to 2.62 as the Nationals won their second straight game. Marquis did not walk a batter and allowed only two runners to reach scoring position, and also drove in a run with a single to center in the fifth.
Laynce Nix hit a two-run homer, his third, in the second inning, and was 2-for-3 to raise his average to .314.
Lincecum (2-3), who scattered seven hits and struck out seven, lost his second straight.
