Jurickson Profar ripped an RBI double to snap a tie in the 10th inning and Josh Hamilton became the first player to reach the 40-homer plateau as visiting Texas evened its series with Tampa Bay at one game apiece.
Geovany Soto had a two-out double to center off Kyle Farnsworth (1-4) to ignite the 10th-inning rally. Soto was replaced on the bases by Leonys Martin, who came around to score on Profar's base hit to right field.
With the teams locked in a scoreless tie in the fourth inning, Hamilton deposited a changeup from rookie call-up Chris Archer over the wall in straight-away center field for his fourth homer in seven contests.
Hamilton was also hit by a pitch in the 10th inning with the bases loaded for his 119th RBI, which is tops in the majors. The late uprising helped the American League West-leading Rangers maintain their 4 1/2-game lead over Oakland, which cruised to a 6-1 win over Seattle later on Saturday.
Mike Adams (5-3) picked up the win after tossing one scoreless inning in relief of starter Yu Darvish, who struck out eight in as many frames. Joe Nathan retired the side in the 10th inning for his 31st save.
Making his third career start, Archer struck out a season-best 11 over seven solid innings. Archer was making a spot start in place of ace David Price, who was scratched due to a sore left shoulder.
Pinch runner Rich Thompson scored on second baseman Ian Kinsler's error to tie the game in the eighth inning. Evan Longoria saw his five-game RBI streak come to an end for the Rays, who fell two games behind Baltimore and the New York Yankees in the AL East.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hamilton became the sixth player in Rangers' history to record a 40-homer season. The previous two - Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez - now play for the Yankees. ... Soto snapped a dubious streak after throwing out Sam Fuld as he tried to steal second base. Opponents had stolen 25 consecutive bases against Soto. ... The Rangers will give Matt Harrison some extra rest and tabbed veteran Roy Oswalt to start Sunday's tilt.
